GEELONG vs COBURG -Development Junior Challenge

16 of our Juniors played in this amazing event.
We thank the crew from Geelong who bought their 10 juniors to Coburg.

We thank our 16 players/ their families who supported them + our 5 coaches.
David Griffiths -Was the Senior coach of our team. raymond Myrteza -Ross Di Vita -Manny Rahat & Scruffy Finlayson were our coaches.

57 matches were played. Coburg dominated the middle section winning 11 matches to 4 – Our # 3 + 4 groups won narrowly 13 to 11 so things were going well. But the main group of 6 players found Bethany-Charlotte & Matthew from Geelong more than a hand full Losing 4 matches to 14.

OVERALL GEELONG WON 29 matches to 28.

Outstanding performances from OSCAR – 2 wins in the top division
Lachlan -Anthony + Thomas all won their matches
Mia + Leo + Sebastian won 3 -Balaj won 2.

Pre match was Pizza time. Thanks to David who had to lug in 15 Pizzas.

After the team matches -the Coburg doubles format was played- Had to drag in some parents to make up the numbers. and wasn’t SON impressed when jumping a barrier to change court the Jeans gave way and split from bottom of zip to the knees ! Daughter Katie was left speechless but mum thought it was pretty funny -Guess new jeans may on the Christmas wish list.

Then the mayhem with the crazy one point match -Played at a frenetic pace with Chocolate rewards for winners. But turkish delight was not a favourite. If ever you want to see high paced table tennis with a one point play -Just ask Ray Scruffy- Manny- Ross or the Mannequin what it is like ? or come to the club 6pm one Thursday night during our ‘Elite training program’ and participate this game we play at the end of training.

But it did not stop there – Onto the final installment of mayhem – the Service game -where service Accuracy is imperative ! Who won these events ? no idea but it left a big group of Juniors and Adults tired and very happy.

Again I thank everyone -+ the spectators- a pity our members don’t show more interest. AND TO THE GEELONG GROUP thanks for making the trek !

Lets do it again next year.

PRE AND AFTER MATCH ENTERTAINMENT

John G prematch rocked up on a push bike wearing a sports coat & the matching daks. Only missing a top hat, but this finely dressed gentleman ran into a barrage of insults. Fair to say we have never seen anyone get harassed as much p[re match without even getting inside the building.

After the matches were completed it was time for the President to show his Authority -‘Out of here’ he screamed and not a single bit of movement from the courts . -Dave & Suat on court 9 hung around for another 10 minute talk, Zach and Rocky continued playing on centre court Sieng was set on court 5 and as for Jayco + Khizar, Adbul & others, seems that a little scream from the Prez wasn’t going to interrupt them.

He even resorted to banging the lid of the rubbish bin ! Not that he could see who was not listening as earlier in the night he ventured outside on Security patrol but not only could he not see anyone he had trouble seeing the car park -Now i wonder why he had no takers for a lift home ?

LEO SAYER GROUPIE

Who was the Coburg tough guy, member, Hall of fame Legend + Para coach, who was seen at the LEO CONCERT at Crown, jigging away and WAVING HIS CRUTCHES up into the air ?

Surely not the TAXI TOM ?

But Mick did show his loyalty again to the club recently. He cant play comp because of his legs, still coaches while in considerable pain & he came to the club during the Community Cup just to help out where he could
Thanks Mick !

AUSSIE PIZZA MAN

Obviously Aussie Alex expects a new watch when he takes the Aussie Oath on Australia Day
The man who declares he is never late, was having an afternoon meeting with the COFFEE yesterday.-He sent a message at 1-36pm saying he wont make it at 1-30pm !
Gordon was on the ball and had actually guessed that once 1-30 had ticked over the ‘Pizza’ would be late.
