PRESENTATION TO MARTIN & EMMANUEL

The Consolation singles event on Sunday was won by Emmanuel. the trophy was presented to him by Ed then it was time to find Martin SLingo to receive the Runners Up prize. And who better to present Martin with his prize than Jim K and a presentation speech delivered by everyone’s mate John Scott.
The word of the day was ORDINARYNESS for being Runner Up. Followed by quite a few other words which did not fit the description of a speech fit for a prize winner.

COMMUNITY CUP COMEDY

All started as we arrived around 8am. The council trucks were all lining up in the western corner of the car park. I mean, it was not swimming season so surely they would have had the car park to themselves. Not quite so, as by 9am there were 100 cars in the cark and the trucks and council equipment was in danger of being surrounded !
They did move not long after, probably wondering what the hell goes on here on Sunday mornings ? + what happens when the club gets busy ?

Early round matches and a team of newcomers to Coburg had to play the YOUNGER THAN JIM team- named because even if you added the 4 players ages together they were still Younger than Jim. -But it was humorous when the players were asking other players ‘Are you Younger than jim ? Of course everyone was, even if not in the team they were chasing. It must have seemed that 100 players were all in the Younger than Jim team

The devil Jeff dever, how god is it to have him back at Coburg ? Maybe a late night ? but the Yellow bent piece of fruit he picked up to purchase did not quite match the quote ‘ can I buy a tomato ? -Not sure what they are called your side of Melbourne but they are Bananas over here.

Team Captain award ? John Griffo for offering Craig Campbell and Russell a bit of piece and quiet and lets play in room 10. Craig could not even use his high toss serve & John records his best ever win, defeating Craig Campbell and adding Russell as another scalp he has claimed .

Shot of the day . -we have all played a shot of 2 with the wrong hand but Campbell was forced wide to his right. then blocked wide to his left, No problems for Craig, pass the bats from the right hand to the left & while on full stretch LOOP a left handed winner AROUND THE NET.

Quote of the day JEFF DEVER when hew said that Craig had only been in Melbourne a day and Coburg an hour but had chatted up every female in the centre ! and actually managed to fit some Table Tennis in between chats !

Match of the Day Eva vs Zach Anstey. how good is it to see an outstanding chopper in action.

Confused player award STRETCH Chilcott, when asked how was he going, he pointed out every player was so good, then he asked Martin who did he play. Martin said The Bye and Stretch in true award winning form said ‘Oh he is a good player ! Well I guess he has never lost a match ?
This was not long after he introduced himself to Zoe with Hi Im Stretch Mark + I say a lot of silly things !

Finally thanks to all those who helped -Zoe & Neil Montfort, Kay Jan Scruffy and Anne in the canteen Lim for his 1000 photos to everyone who helped Saturday night set up , to all spectators and finally each and every player !

Thanks guys now its time for the big event.

FRIDAY FOLLIES

2 players came to the desk. they played their Elimination match at 2 all Loser eliminated- + they don’t remember who won ? Although one of the players did ‘lose his shirt’ -We still don’t know what was wearing when he went home 3 PLAYERS THIS WEEK DID NOT KNOW IF THEY WON OR LOST A MATCH

jack La was informed it was Elimination finals night -so he thought he better be on time and win a trophy – No Jack -still have to win tonight -then Semi finals then -Grand Final -How did his team go ? they lost but he now plans for Sunday -Get eliminated then win the Consolation event
Sorry Jack -Consolation is individuals only -you would have to beat your team mates !

5 non shows for tonights finals ! Surely a record ? & how about Min -She has Toby with a hard bat as a partner- they win Doubles so she plays 2 in a row -refuses to let Toby play -then goes home early ! And could not explain why there were gaps in the score sheet ! But Matt & Joe they are happy with their team win yet it says they lost 1 -EASY opponents had gone home so they change one of the results !
