Table Tennis players do it again -Entries close – now they want to play. 25 teams of 3 -4 & 5 players – 5 teams in each group TOP 3 teams go into Main draw -But if you don’t make the Main Draw you have a 2nd chance CONSOLATION EVENT — all player not making the Main draw will be placed into a SINGLES Knock out tournament. –
So lets run through Sundays format -club opens 8am – YOU CANT PLAY UNTIL YOU PAY preferably by CASH if you have not paid on line
1/4 to 9 -final rules announcement -teams allocated tables. ALL ROUND ROBIN MATCHES BEST of 3 -In each match teams can play 3 -4 or 5 players
TEAMS must be written on score sheet before each match

5 match format -2 x players play 2 singles + 1 player plays one match –
ex A -B – C -A -B vs- X- Y- Z- Y -X -All matches will be played out in the Round Robin section.
After round Robin – Play to decision only -first to win 3 rubbers.
If your team is eliminated in Round Robin – your team members will be entered into a knock Out Individual Consolation event (Trophy only for Winner + a $20 voucher to use at the Club. )

A poor ? excuse from James W sec 5. His team makes the finals, his first season with Graeme and he cant play, as he has his Graduation . I offered to let him wear his Hat & Cloak and we would cheer him as he handed him the score sheet ! Graeme being the nice guy that he is went one further saying James could even play in his coat and hat

THE OLD MISSING BOARD TRICK _ Its 10 minutes after the 2 teams were ready to start. Send Dave Chris K down from court 5 to get the board. He shoots off and now its Martin who offered to umpy the Doubles is not scampering through the box looking for the missing board. Kumar had in but he was now on court 6, with a court 5 score board. Not long after Martin returns – time to get a pen ! But i can report they did manage to play the match.

EARN the Train – Has played in International matches- has competed against some of Australia’s and Malaysia’s best players but never been in a Doubles match like last night. Occasionally some one actually played a conventional shot- but not too many t- When are partnering with Frank Z a rather cagey tricky gentleman, playing Jack B and the other Frank you don’t get too many straight balls. And how did Earn feel after the match ? he twisted and turned that much he thought he was in a Tai Chi class.
Earn now hopes to re play Jack B about 6 pm on Sunday after he has had all day warming up playing matches. One or 2 long rallies sounds a treat to our TT guru.
But first off Earn better talk to a few of his disciples. Here he was telling everyone in sight that John Griffo was doing incredible things with his new back hand rubber- Tin Arc. Maybe next time he should read the label. DHs rubber ? yes ! tin arc no ! it was the totally different Gold Arc.

HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED ? remember early in the year and Ahmed and Yousef were guided by the rules set down by DIB. Yousef was ill last night So Ahmed demanded and forced Bid to be the fill in ! The excuses were coming out faster than a Jim smash -I have old rubbers, i was going to change my rubbers tonight, don’t have shorts on me, I need a 30 minute warm up but they all fell on deaf ears as Ahmed had his way and Dib was in the team playing .

OWN UP ! Who told me they had a good win in Section 6 yet when I looked at the score sheet it said she lost. So she then said Oh well I had a good match and took him to 4 sets.

Gotta start with Jack Bouchard derailing the Train. Hopefully Jack will get to play ‘the Body’ Craig Campbell on Sunday. We will be in for a long entertaining match !

Sec 2 + Jim’s team fails to make the finals -He gets the Call up to fill in -Loses again and nearly made the Semi Finals !
Sec 3 -Brandon and Ben finished 2nd on the ladder BUT the grade is decimated by exam time so many fill ins- They play Chris Kumar who decided to bring his A game and francis back for overseas -maybe training ? who knows ? Ben + Brandon lose the cards fall the wrong way and they are out !

Sec 4 -the flip side to Bens team- Jake + Mike lose -they only landed in 4th spot on % – -6th & 6th teams lose and they not only stay in the finals the quickly arrange for next week’s match to be play on Monday as they are unavailable on tuesday + Nino their opponent is off overseas so The Manequin gets run !

Sec 5 -Mean Menegols get thumped but limp into the Semis -While James W has a break (more on him in a later story)

Sec 6- Sanjay is saved by a hard bat hero ! as we could not find a last minute substitute _ Melways to the rescue !

I have spent the afternoon re waxing the main playing areas on all courts. On Saturday night how about a hand at 6pm as we prepare the courts for the Community Cup.

Plus we have to collect fees as we have to raise a huge amount of $’s for Prize money for the day.

On Sunday ? Kay will be running the canteen but will need some help as she prepares some hot food. Making sandwiches and heaps of other things .

Zoe Qian has worked tirelessly on the Community Cup – We must thank her for her efforts.
It all happens on Sunday. A huge program with some outstanding teams
4 or 5 teams in the Groups – top 2 or 3 teams go into the Main draw. For the others they will be offered a place in a Consolation Singles event (knock Out)

Coburg All Stars (sneaky Jim has kept his name quiet ) & they have finally released the name of its 4th Player. -the monster who defeated Dave Brand on his last visit to Coburg -the one and only Jeff the Devil Dever.

As finals draw closer, the final Round of the top section of Friday night Pennant will be played this week.
The lowest ranked teams in the Red & Blue section will be eliminated at the completion of the round.

It is also the final round for friday 2 -then all teams play in a Elimination finals format next week

Friday 3, will see the top Team get a Bye into the Semi finals after this week, while the other 4 teams battle it out to see who will play in next weeks Semi Finals

Congratulations to Bradley (Wednesday pennant) for joining the Mo-Vember program. So far he has raised $300 for mens health/depression. If you want to help sponsor Brad, come and see him and his growing moustache or drop some money in at the canteen.
We also congratulate Mark ‘Stretch’ Chilcott who is also ‘growing a ‘tash’ & Stephen Watson as they join in on the Mo-vember fund raising program.

But how about Paul Black ?- he had gone the other way. Back from holidays and he has lost the Mo & the Beard.
